Is Directus production-ready for enterprise workloads?
Yes. It powers several of our enterprise deployments with SSO, audit logging, role-based field-level access, and multi-tenant isolation. Running it at scale is a solved problem.
How does Directus compare to Strapi or Contentful?
Directus shines when you already have a SQL database — it generates APIs on top of your existing schema rather than imposing its own. Strapi is closer to a traditional headless CMS; Contentful is a SaaS with a different cost model.
Can Directus serve as a pure data API layer without the admin UI?
Yes. We often deploy Directus in 'headless API only' mode for backend services that don't need an editorial admin — REST + GraphQL endpoints on your SQL schema, no extra UI.
